The future, today

May 1981. The eve of the French presidential elections. 15 year old Claire feels smothered by the environment at home. Her father, an unemployed bank clerk, solemnly prophesies the coming of Russian tanks and the five year plan should the Left come to power, but Claire dreams of change and invests herself, body and soul, in her support of François Mitterrand. She crosses paths with Marc, the 16 year old son of a trade union mechanic. Against the backdrop of political battle, they watch, attract, repel, and find one another...
